We are thankful God blessed our family with Nona, she truly was
a gift and the heart of our family. Although we all feel as though a
huge part of us is gone an even bigger part will forever be embodied
in each of us as we pass on the many lessons she taught us through
her life. She may not have known it but she taught us so much; she
taught us all how to love unconditionally and give selflessly. Her
unconditional love and never ending compliments taught us to be
confident in the person God made us to be. We are thankful that
we will never doubt the deep love she had for us. Each time we were
together she would tell us just how much she loved us and exactly
what we meant to her. By doing that, she taught us not to be afraid
to tell the ones we love just how much they mean to us. She taught
us how to give, because no one EVER left her house empty
handed; there was nothing she wouldn’t give away (even if she had
just bought it)! She loved to bless others and make them happy,
always putting others needs above her own. Nona was a living
example of Philippians 2:3-4 “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or
vain conceit. Rather, in humility consider others above yourselves,
not looking to your own interest but to the interests of others.”
She taught us to trust our intuition; Nona had a way of knowing
when something was wrong even if she was nowhere around you.
Frequently, she would call or just show up because she felt that
something was wrong…for this reason we know she will always be
with us! She will forever be our comfort when we are sad and an
encouraging voice when we feel like giving up.
She taught us to love without reserve making the most of every
moment. The kind of love that Nona gave us is something very few
people know how to do and even fewer experience personally.
We were all given a gift by knowing Nona and experiencing her love
and life lessons. We now have the privilege of continuing her legacy
by passing on these gifts and continuing to bless others in the way
that she blessed us.
