Aileen S. Doss

Aileen Blanche Short Doss of Lake Jackson, Texas was born to James (Jim) and Blanche Morris Short on January 24, 1927, in the small community of Marlow, near Cameron, in Central Texas. On July 22, 2013, Aileen Doss went to her heavenly home to be with her Lord and Savior. She was 86 years old.She met and married the love of her life, Robert Lee "Bob" Doss in 1946. They moved to Lake Jackson in 1947, where they have lived ever since. To this union were born four children, Karen, Christina "Tina", Robin and Randal "Randy". Aileen loved to be with little ones and served in the nursery at First Baptist Church of Lake Jackson for more than 50 years. She loved to sew and embroider. The children who came through the nursery received a "Nana" quilt. She also donated quilts to the Hospital Gift Shop and for Mission work. She also loved to embroider pillowcases to give to her friends and family.She was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Blanche Short and a brother, Ronald Short. She is survived by her husband Robert and her children, Karen Doss Babin and husband Ron, Christina Sue Doss, Robin Doss Kelley and husband Pat, Randal Lee "Randy" Doss and wife Melinda. She is also survived by nine granddaughters; Rachel Babin Sibley and husband Joey, Jennifer Kelley Fine and husband Michael, Jaime Doss Hopkins, Carrie Doss Holzhauer, Amanda Kelley Mize and husband Teague, Ree Kelley Miska and husband Jeremy, Noelle Babin Albergamo and husband Joe, Sara Kelley and Randa Doss. Also great grandchildren Jason Sibley, James Fine, Elizabeth Fine, Olivia Fine, Madeline Mize, Nolan Mize, Drake Hopkins, Karsyn Holzhauer, Danika Holzhauer, Sydney Miska, Gracie Miska and Austin Babin Wilson and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by a sister, Betty Jo Ford and brother Wally Short and wife Jeanie.Friends are cordially invited to a visitation on Thursday, July 25, 2013 from 9:00-10:30 a.m., followed by her funeral at 10:30 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Lake Jackson, TX. Pallbearers are Ron Babin, Pat Kelley, Calvin Shiflet, Michael Fine, Teague Mize and Jeremy Miska.
