

Albert Lee Dawson was born July 29, 1938 in Sioux City, Iowa. He moved to South Dakota as a young boy. He graduated from High School in 1957 in Colome, South Dakota. He joined the Marine Corps in 1958, spending 15 months in Okinawa, he was discharged in 1961. He married Janice (Silliman) Thompson in 1978 and included in this union were three teenage children which he helped raise as his own. For enjoyment, Albert liked to fish, tinker with his pickup and spend time with his family. They retired to Morganton, North Carolina.
Albert died January 10, 2010 in Anniston, Alabama and memorial service will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, July 31, 2010 at the Restwood Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend John Boehnke officiating. Internment will be in the Restwood Memorial Park.
He is preceded in death by his parents, infant daughter, infant son, son, Tommy; brother, Darus and a nephew Doug Dawson. He is survived by his wife, Janice Dawson; daughters, Liz (John) Bennett, Michelle (Mike) McCleary; sisters, Sandra (Don) Soesbe of Gregory, South Dakota; sister-in-law Sharon Dawson of Colome, South Dakota; brother-in-law Richard (Janet) Silliman of Weaverville, North Carolina; 7 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and family. He is also survived by a special Marine buddy Charlie Witt of Troy, Missouri.
