

Dean Stovall Keeney, age 84 of Angleton, Texas, passed away on Saturday, September 27, 2014. She was born to the late Edgar “Shorty” Breazeale and Odessa Clifton Breazeale on July 17, 1930 in Center, Mississippi.
Dean attended Grammar School and High School in Center, Mississippi, before attending Holmes Community College, where she received an Associate’s Degree in Business Administration. After her children were in school she later continued her education at the University of Houston, receiving a Bachelor’s degree in Business. She began using her business skills working in the medical field and worked as the Administrator of Woodlake Nursing home in Clute, Texas. In 1975 she was instrumental in the creation of Visiting Nurses of Brazoria County, and retired from VNBA 20 years later. After retirement she remained very active in the community. She spent several years teaching Sunday school at First Baptist Church in Brazoria, Texas. She also was very proud of her time as a consultant and volunteer with numerous local hospice organizations, nursing homes, and most recently with “The Gathering Place” who provides an Alzheimer’s support service for people living with Alzheimer’s and their family members. Recently she became a member of First United Methodist Church of Lake Jackson, Texas.
Family and friends were Dean’s passion and delight. She married Jesse Stovall in 1950 and shortly after, she and Jesse followed her parents who moved from Mississippi to Clute, Texas, where her parents relocated for the chance to work for the Dow Chemical Plant. On July 26, 1980 Dean married Albert R. Keeney of Angleton. She and Al loved to travel and spent time sightseeing all across the world.
Dean is survived by her husband, Albert R Keeney, of Angleton; her sister-in-law, Mary Ann Breazeale of Sweeny, Texas; her three daughters, Debbie Thurman and husband, Bob of Angleton, Texas; Jessica Caldwell, and husband George of Brownwood, Texas; Billie Dean Carr and husband Robby of Angleton, and three step-children Kay Hale of Austin, Texas, Kenneth Keeney and wife Paulette of Houston, and Paul Keeney and wife Betty of Waco; grandchildren: Tammy Sanchez and husband Manny; Laura Alexander and husband Bruce; Leslie Barker; Lisa Mapel and husband Steven, Ryan Carr and wife Christina ; Steve Hale and wife Donnel, Cray Keeney, Nash Keeney and wife, Kim, Lydia Felkner and husband Ryan, Evieanne Collazo and husband Carlos, Victor Keeney, Andrew Keeney, Daniel Keeney and wife Andrea; fifteen great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, loving family, friends and her beloved dog, Caesar “Ce-Ce”.
Dean is preceded in death by her parents, Edgar “Shorty” Breazeale and Odessa “Dessie” Clifton Breazeale of Clute, Texas; her brother, Victor “Bill” Breazeale of Sweeny, Texas, and her sister, Pearlyene Breazeale, of Mississippi, and step-son, Robert “Bob” Keeney of Angleton.
The family wishes to thank all of those who cared for her during her last illness especially the nursing staff at West Houston Hospital.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, October 2, at Restwood Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Friday, October, 3, at Restwood Funeral Home. Pastor Ramona Barr will officiate. Entombment will follow at Restwood Memorial Park Cemetery.
