

Dennis Ganstine was born Jan 24, 1943 in Atterbury, Indiana to Percy Ganstine and Gretchen Gardener-Ganstine. He had two younger brothers, Rich and Bob Ganstine. In 1956 they moved to Harlingen, TX where he met his future wife, Nita Carolyn Hollida. They were married in December 1960.
He attended New Mexico State on a football scholarship from 1960-1965. During this time he and Nita had their three children: Dennis Ganstine, Jr., Gregory Ganstine, and Denise Ganstine. After graduating with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, he moved to Lake Jackson, TX where he worked at Dow Chemical. He finished his masters in Civil Engineering in 1970 from the University of Houston and continued to work for Dow Chemical in a variety of engineering positions for the next 17 years. In 1987, he became a process computer control programmer and pursued that career with Dow until his retirement in 2003.
Dennis had a wide variety of hobbies and interests. He was widely traveled, loved working on his motorcycle and Corvette, eating spicy foods, and going on archeology digs. After his retirement, he went on several mission trips to Africa with First Baptist Church Lake Jackson where he was a member.
He passed on December 31, 2015. He is survived by his loving wife, Nita Ganstine; his sons, Dennis Jr. and Gregory Ganstine; and daughter and son-in-law, Denise and Tom Bass. He had many grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Amanda Allen, her husband, Lance Allen, and their children, Calysta Gallagher, Kiara Allen, Haleigh Allen, Cadynce Mcguigan, and Jayden Allen; Carolyn Ganstine; Chelsea Farrar; Kailey Ganstine, and Jordan Bass. He also leaves behind his brothers and their wives, Bob and Nancy Ganstine, Rich and Janie Ganstine, and their 2 children.
Visitation will be held at 10am on Thursday Jan 7 at Restwood Funeral Home in Clute, TX. Services follow at noon.
