Edward Lee Reinhart

Edward was born on September 13 1941 in El Campo, TX to Oscar and Alma Reinhart. The Reinhart family moved to Lake Jackson, TX in 1943 and was one of the first 100 pioneer families. The Reinhart family also helped charter Christ Lutheran Church in Lake Jackson. Edward attended public schools in the Brazosport area and was active in little league, football, and band. After graduating in 1960, he married Sandra Smith of Columbus, TX and they raised their family together in Lake Jackson for 26 years. Edward’s hobbies included camping, hunting, fishing, golfing and spending time visiting Casinos. Edward was a proud father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Edward had a career with the US Postal Service for more than two decades, and spent many of those years serving as postmaster of Clute and eventually retiring as the postmaster in Alvin, TX. He was active with the Postal Carriers Union, the National League of Postmasters, and the Alvin Kiwanis Club.

Edwards later years were challenging after suffering from a stroke in 2008. He moved to Rosewood Assisted Living in Tyler, TX. He was lovingly and dutifully cared for by his sister Doris Wilkes during his last years. After his stroke, Edward often shared his testimony and became an avid student of God’s Word. He loved to share how the Lord saved him and he felt it was his job to tell others about how good God is.

Edward was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar & Alma Reinhart; and a brother, Loyd Reinhart.

Edward is survived by his daughter, Angela Glasgow; a son, Vincent (Stacey) Reinhart; grandsons, Bryan (Chrissy) Long, Blake Long, Bradley Long, and Jake Williamson; a granddaughter, Nicole Reinhart; great-granddaughters, Rebecca Long, Aubrey Long, Scarlett Long; and a great-grandson, Rowdy Long.

Edward is further survived by his sister, Doris (Russell) Wilkes.

A Visitation with Friends and Family will be held on Friday December 18 2015 at Restwood Funeral Home starting at 6:00pm.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday December 19 2015 at Restwood Funeral Home starting at 11am.

Edward Lee Reinhart will be laid to rest in Restwood Memorial Park, immediately following funeral services.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be considered in Edward’s memory to the Hospice of East Texas, Tyler TX.
