

Gary A. McCoslin was born in Freeport, TX on October 11, 1950 to Mr. and Mrs. E McCoslin. He was the baby brother of the McCoslin Five.
In his younger years he was a guard at the Ramsey unit in Rosharon, Tx. He soon began working for Dow Chemical in the Mag Cells, and progressed to transportation where he, his brother, and a handful of drivers were the first truck drivers for Dow Chemical. He was blessed to be able to travel around the US with his big brother Jimmy as his road buddy. He taught defensive driving at Dow and he retired from his career at Dow Chemical in Investment Recovery.
He loved to play golf and was a marshal at Austin Bayou Golf course in Danbury Tx. Some are talented enough to experience a hole one, but Gary made two! His first, at Austin Bayou in Danbury Tx, and his second career hole in one at Koasati Pines in Louisiana at Coushatta Casino Golf course.
Gary, who was better known as Daddy to his two children, son, Shane and his daughter Shea Lynn to whom he taught many life lessons, told all the dad jokes to, and always loved with open arms. He was loved by them very much and will be missed tremendously. Gary joined his son Shane in Heaven, whom passed in 2022. His daughter will forever mourn her first and favorite dance partner. “We love you Daddy”
“Uncle Gary” was loved by his many nieces and nephews to whom he adored.
Gary was loved by many friends but was loved the most by Mindy Lindly whom he shared 10 great years with.
Gary was proceeded in death by his grandmother, Ollie McCoslin; parents, Earnest and Agnes “Marie” McCoslin; brother, Edwin “Peanut” McCoslin and wife Vivienne McCoslin; brother, Robert “Bobby” McCoslin; brother, Lynn McCoslin; cousin, Ronnie Mitchell; and his son, Gary “Shane” McCoslin.
He is survived by his brother, Jimmy McCoslin and wife Debbie McCoslin; mother to his children, Deborah White; his daughter, Shea Lynn McCoslin Still and husband Shane Still; granddaughter, MaKenna McCoslin; grandson, Zane Funk; grandson, Blake Funk; grandson, Colton funk; and granddaughter, Sheltyn Still.
Don’t cry, remember the good times! We will hold you in our hearts until we can once again hold you in our arms. Rest in peace Daddy, you were loved! Now go roll those dice!
A Funeral Service will be held at Jones Creek Baptist Church, 7334 TX-36, Freeport, TX 77541, US, on April 2, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
A Committal Service will be held at Gulf Prairie Cemetery, 231 N Gulf Prairie Rd, Freeport, TX 77541, US, on April 2, 2026, from 3:00 pm to 3:30 pm.
Pallbearers will be Makenna McCoslin, Zane Funk, Blake Funk, Colton Funk, Larry McCoslin, Darin Mitchell, Steven McCoslin, and Bobby Lamb.
