Perry was born on October 19, 1959, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, to George Henry Hutchinson and Juanita Washington Hutchinson. He spent his early years in Baton Rouge before moving to Texas, where he lived in Bay City and later Victoria, which became his home for many years.
Perry dedicated 39 years of service to CPL/AEP, beginning his career as a meter reader and later serving as a revenue protection specialist. He retired in October 2024, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, integrity, and dependability.
Above all else, Perry loved his family and friends deeply. His greatest joy in life was being a grandfather—known proudly as “G-Pop.” He was devoted to his granddaughter Emily and never missed a single activity, always present, supportive, and proud. Perry had a heart of gold and was someone everyone could count on, always willing to help however he could.
He enjoyed collecting guns and attending gun shows, taking day trips back to Louisiana to visit the casinos, and traveling to Las Vegas—one of his favorite places. While living in Victoria, Perry formed lasting friendships with Jonathan and Jenny Ruiz, who quickly became his cherished “Victoria family" who he loved. He also enjoyed being a board member of Victoria Federal Credit Union for many years and created lasting friendships there.
Perry was preceded in death by his parents, George and Juanita Hutchinson; his brother, David Hutchinson; and his sister, Cynthia Hutchinson Ledwig-Elliott.
He is survived by his daughter, Lesley Powers and her husband Josh; his beloved only granddaughter Emily; nieces Lisa Baker and her husband John; Sara and Johnny and their children; Tara Kopecky and Adam and their children; and nephew Jamie and his children.
Pallbearers will be Josh, Joey, Chris, Jonathan, Jonathan II, and Jaron.
Perry will be remembered for his kindness, loyalty, and unwavering love for his family. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
A visitation will be held on January 16, 2026, from 1:30 pm to 2:15 pm at Restwood Funeral Home, located at 1038 West Plantation Dr, Clute, TX 77531. The funeral service will follow from 2:15 pm to 3:00 pm at the same location.
