

James Alan Walenta, 53, of Lake Jackson, Texas, passed away on Thursday, November 8, 2012, at Memorial Herman Hospital at the Texas Medical Center in Houston, Texas with his wife and his family members by his side. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 AM on Saturday, November 10, 2012 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church with Monsignor Leo Wleczyk officiating. Active pallbearers are Leldon Walenta, Ernest Ewald Jr., Tuan Nguyen, Seth Luna, David Wilcox, and Chase Wilcox. Honorary pallbearers are Joe Evans Jr., John Evans, Cody Hoobler, Henry Schutze, Kevin Evans, and Jason Wallace. Viewing of the body will occur from 9:00 – 9:45 AM at St. Michael’s Church prior to the funeral services. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 8:00 PM at St. Michael’s Catholic Church on Friday, November 9, 2012, and a Rosary Service will be held at 7:00 PM. James was born on June 1, 1959 in Lake Jackson, TX to parents Sidney and Sophie Walenta. He lived in Lake Jackson all of his life and worked as a welder at Freeport Welding. His future wife, Theresa, was in the same Brazoswood High School graduating class (1977) as James. They later re-united in 2007 and he married his soul mate in 2008. James was a master pool player, winning numerous local and regional tournaments. He was nicknamed “Stick” and taught many of his family and friends how to successfully play pool. He loved to sing and dance to Karaoke music, while having family and friends over for cookouts in his backyard. He also loved to take his family and friends camping, especially at Texas beaches. He is survived by his wife, Theresa Walenta, of Lake Jackson; his sister, Sharon Muzny, and her husband, Robert, of Lake Jackson; his niece, Christina Nguyen and her husband, Tuan, of Birmingham, Alabama; stepchildren David and Chrissy Wilcox of Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, Whitney and Cody Hoobler of Lake Jackson, and Chase and Brittney Wilcox of Fort Bragg, North Carolina; grandchildren Ava and Evan Wilcox, Cambria Hoobler, and Riley Wilcox; and numerous aunts, uncles, extended family members, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sidney and Sophie Walenta of Lake Jackson. James Walenta was a wonderful person who would do anything to help others. James was the best son, husband, brother, uncle, stepfather, grandfather, and friend. His greatest joy was when he met the love of his life, Theresa, and became a stepfather and a grandfather.
