Janet Lee Bell Smith, 76, of Missouri City, TX entered into the Lords Rest on September 7 2015 in Houston, TX with her family by her side. Janet was born on June 17, 1939 to parents Frederick and Carolyn Bell in Corpus Christi, TX. Janet married Herbert T. Smith Sr. in San Antonio, TX on February 8th, 1959 and together they celebrated more than 40 years of marriage.
Janet was a beautiful woman who loved to cook. She spent many hours preparing meals for her family that she loved dearly. Her children were the most important thing in the world to her along with her grandchildren and she felt a duty beyond love to care for them. Because of her loving and protective nature, she opened a day care in Lake Jackson so she could care for her own family along with others. Janet also had a special place in her heart for her siblings, Anita and Jack, along with their families.
Janet loved Christmas, and would always go all out on decorations and gifts. She loved to shop, so Christmas time was always very busy and very much full of life. She also had a fondness in collecting little porcelain birds and crystal while continuing the collection of her husband's clocks. In her later years, when she could travel she loved to take cruises to various parts of the world.
Above all else, she loved to serve others. Always trying to make other people’s lives in some way enriched. Her impact will long be felt even though she has left us to be with the Lord.
Janet is preceded in death by her parents and her loving husband.
Janet is survived by her children; son H.T. Smith Jr. (Brenda); daughter Carolyn Morton (Billy); daughter Kimberly Richardson (Dennis); daughter Sarah Naranjo (Noel). She is further survived by her grandchildren: grandsons Michael, Matthew, Jared, and Ryan; granddaughters Lauren, Allison, Kaelynn, Morgan, Meagan and Kristen; and numerous great-grandchildren.
Private Funeral Services were held with Restwood Funeral Home on Monday September 14 2015. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be considered to the American Diabetes Association.
