The Memorial service will be held at Restwood Funeral Home in Clute, TX, on January 22, 2018 at 10am.
John was born on March 12, 1936 in Shreveport, Louisiana to William and Florence Motes. He graduated from Louisiana Tech with a Bachelor of Science of Chemistry in 1959 and obtained his PhD in Organic Chemistry from Florida State University in 1965. His hobbies included his passion for the Houston Astros, and projects around the house.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years Phyllis Motes; son, Matthew, and wife Elizabeth; son Paul, and wife Stephanie; grandchildren Georgeanne, Ashley, and Hannah Motes.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to First United Methodist Church of Lake Jackson or His Love Counseling Services.
A special thanks to Heart to Heart Hospice and Oak Village Health Care for the wonderful care they gave Dad during his last months.
