

John Henry Walker was received into Heaven January 10, 2018. He was born May 17, 1944 in Galveston, Texas. His father, Milton H. Walker and mother, Mildred Walker, were both elementary teachers. His mother taught at Elizabeth Ney Elementary School in Lake Jackson, TX. His grandfather, John Henry Walker, was his inspiration. John grew up in Dickinson, Texas and moved to Lake Jackson in 1956. He graduated from Brazosport Senior High School in 1962 and earned a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Lamar University in 1967. John worked in research for Dow Chemical and as an engineering and construction engineer for Jacob’s Engineering Group. When the recession hit in 1981, he earned a Secondary Certification in math and chemistry from the University of Houston at Clear Lake. He taught math at West Columbia ISD and married Paula Stinnett in 1986. Later he worked as a Fluid Systems Engineer for Stone and Webster, and then taught chemistry and physics for Tidehaven ISD. John ran his own business as a note broker and enjoyed tutoring one-on-one for the Dayspring Christian Academy. John was an avid tennis player and enjoyed traveling with his wife. John was very proud of his nine step-grandchildren: Breeanna, Rebecca, and Erica Filippi; Jonathan, Stephanie, Joseph, Zachary and Nicholas LeBlanc; and Paul Wayne Stinnett III (Trey). He is survived by his two sisters, Lora Lee Belew of Victoria, TX and Lydia Kay Holloway of Pontotoc, TX. A memorial service will be held at Chapelwood United Methodist Church, Lake Jackson, TX at 2:00 p.m., Saturday January 13, 2018. John was a loving husband, son, brother, step-father, and grandfather. He will be missed by all.
