

Joyce Hartmann passed away September 13, 2011 at Hermann Hospital in Houston, Texas. Norma Joyce Webb Hartmann was born November 4, 1929 in Justin, Texas to parents Ellis Bascum Webb and Zora Etta Webb. She died at age 81 after complications of a stroke. A resident of Lake Jackson for nearly 62 years, she moved to the Brazosport community in 1950, when she married Hugo Henry Hartmann. They enjoyed 60 years of devoted, loving marriage. Joyce returned to college after starting her family. She earned her B.S. Education, Secondary Mathematics and English, from University of North Texas in Denton, Texas at age 43. She enjoyed a 29 year teaching career beginning as a substitute teacher in Brazosport ISD for nine years, two years with Columbia-Brazoria ISD, and retiring from Angleton ISD after 18 years of service as a high school geometry teacher. Joyce was a Christian and a faithful member of Lake Jackson Church of Christ. She was baptized in the spring of 1950. Joyce loved her family above all else. She was mother to four wonderful children. Her passions were gardening, cooking and sewing. She enjoyed mathematics, English and history. Her leisure time also included dominoes, church activities, family outings, and shopping -- especially tropical plants, roses and azaleas to add to her beautiful garden. Joyce leaves her son, Norman Hartmann and daughter, Darla Hartmann. Other surviving relatives include sisters-in-law Wilma Webb and Martha Loesch and many other cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Hugo Henry Hartmann, daughter Karen Elaine Hartmann and infant son Ellis Neal Hartmann; her parents Ellis and Zora Webb, and her brothers Joe Webb and Ernest B. Webb. Pallbearers are Joe Talbot, Rodger Thompson, Frank Hickl, Joe Hairston, Charles Garrett and Robin Lee. Honorary Pallbearers are Waiford English, TJ Foster, Wilson Kettler, Kenneth Kettler, Armin Loesch and Nino Herrera. Visitation with family will be Friday, September 16, 2011 from 5-7:00 p.m. at Restwood Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Saturday, September 17, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Lake Jackson Church of Christ, 402 Center Way. Graveside service will follow at Restwood Cemetery. Arrangements under the direction of Restwood Funeral Home & Memorial Park, Clute, Texas.
