Juan "Johnny" Cantu

He is preceded in death by his father Inez Guajardo Cantu.

Johnny leaves behind his loving wife of 37 years Phyllis, son Estevan, daughter Veronica, mother Otila Cantu, brothers Gustavo (Nora), Sergio "Noe" (Herlinda), Arturo (Laurie) Cantu, Mother in law Alice Ramirez, sisters in law, Peggy Ramirez and Pam Maseda. Nieces and nephews, Megan, Justin, James, Grayson, Gabriel, Glori and Elizabeth Cantu, Brandi Peden, Heather Mendoza, John Paul Ramirez, Vanessa Gutierrez, Roxanne De La Rosa and Jonathan Allemang. Grand Nieces and nephews, Shelby Ford, Brittney and Dallas Peden, Isaiah Martinez, Ila and Iliana Mendoza, Charisma Gutierrez and Jace Cantu. And his beloved pets, Harley, Bella, Ty and Taz, grand pup Marshmallow.

He never met a stranger once you were a friend it was for life. He loved fishing, camping, birdwatching and beach time with the family, coaching and watching sports especially his Houston Texans.

Johnny was a hero to us all. He defied the odds many times these last few years. His life was a great example of what the scripture defines as "redeeming the time you have been given" Ephesians 5:16. Johnny "made the most of every opportunity" and lived life to its fullest. His greatest joy was his family and he was always willing to lay it down for them. Scripture tells us "Greater love has no one than this, that they would be willing to lay down one's life for a friend." Johnny had many friends and his love, sense of humor, and servant's attitude will be missed. God works all things out for the good of those who are called according to His purpose. We know that Johnny is with other loved ones who have gone before us and our Heavenly Father today in heaven and we know that he left this earth in better place and that good will come from this. Much love and peace for a son, husband, father, brother and hero. GO TEXANS.

Visitation with the family will be held on Monday July 6, 2015 from 5:00-8:00 pm, Rosary at 6:30 pm at Restwood Funeral Home.

Funeral services will begin at 11:00 am on Tuesday July 7, 2015 at St. Jerome's Catholic Church in Clute, TX, following the funeral services Johnny will be laid to rest at Restwood Memorial Park.
