Judith Duckett Armstrong, 81, of Lake Jackson TX died December 30, 2021. Judy was born to Emmett and Hazel Duckett on October 19, 1940, in Weatherford, TX. She began playing piano at the age of 5 and grew up playing music for her father’s Baptist church services and revival meetings. After graduating high school, her family moved to California, and her church buddy and high school sweetheart Jerry Lee Adams left his hometown of Ft. Worth, TX to be close to her. Judy and Jerry were married on May 1, 1959, and one year later (to-the-day!) their first son Randal Lee Adams was born. Second son Jeffrey David Adams followed two years later. During those early years Judy and Jerry worked together as music ministers and youth leaders at Bethel Baptist Church in Concord, CA. Judy also worked to supplement the family’s income by teaching piano lessons and working first for Boeing Aircraft and later for Dow Chemical. After Judy’s 1st marriage ended in divorce, she married Fred Lloyd Peacock, and they moved to Clute, TX in 1972 where they both continued working for Dow. A few months later Fred’s sons Keith Gordon Peacock and Edward Dale Peacock left Indiana to join the family in Texas due to the sudden and tragic death of their mother Juanita Peacock. Then two years later, after a move to a larger house in Bailey’s Prairie just outside Angleton, TX, Judy and Fred gave birth to their son Paul Emmett Peacock. Judy, as an only child and “preacher’s kid”, had become the mother of five boys in a noisy, musical, and love-filled blended family. Sadly, Fred passed away in 1982. Soon afterward Judy met Bob Armstrong, who had also been recently widowed. Judy and Bob married, retired from Dow together, and enjoyed 34 years of marriage residing in Lake Jackson, TX. After retirement, Judy began her second career as owner of Expressions Flowers and Gifts in Clute, TX. She enjoyed flower arranging and having her mother, Hazel, help her in the flower shop. Judy decided to sell the flower shop after the death of her mother so she could travel with Bob. They took numerous driving trips up the East Coast together, and Judy also traveled to Europe several times. Judy especially enjoyed the lighthouses of New England and the castles and old churches of Europe. Judy is survived by her 5 sons, 3 stepchildren, 18 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at Restwood Funeral Home, 1038 W. Plantation Dr., Clute TX, Saturday, January 8 at 2:00. A graveside burial service will follow immediately at 3:00 with a reception in Judy’s honor there at Restwood after the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Judy’s honor to The Brazosport Symphony, where she served on the board, or St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church in Lake Jackson, where she served and wore many hats including a term as Sr. Warden.
