Kathryn Margaret (Scruggs) Carpenter

Kathryn Margaret Carpenter, of Lake Jackson, was born, Sunday, September 11, 1921 in Dallas, Texas to John Dave and Elizabeth Josephine Kennedy Scruggs and died Thursday, December 1, 2011 in Clute, Texas at the age of 90 years, 2 months and 20 days. She grew up in Dallas, later attended business school and worked in the Banking industry in the Accounting Departments. She married Leverett Holly Carpenter on September 14, 1940 in Dallas, Texas at her parent’s home. She loved to travel and especially enjoyed her trips to Ireland and Great Britain. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; daughter, Jeanne Tinsley; brothers, John Scruggs and Frank Scruggs. She is survived by her daughters, Kay Craft and her husband Jim, Elizabeth Schoppe and her husband Dwaine; son-in-law, Ken Tinsley, grandchildren, Jean Thompson, Tom Craft, Kate Martha Craft, Tracy Kerr, Mary Kathryn Gardner, Sarah Roberts, Kenneth Tinsley, Tim Schoppe, Kirk Schoppe and 5 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends Sunday evening, December 4, 2011 from 5:00 until 6:00 pm at Restwood Funeral Home followed by a Rosary service at 6:00 pm in the Restwood Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services will be at 11:00 am Monday, December 5, 2011 at St. Michaels Catholic Church with Reverend Monsignor Leo Wleczyk, E. V. officiating. Graveside services will be at 2:00 pm Tuesday, December 6, 2011 at Calvary Hill Cemetery, 3235 Lombardy Lane, Dallas, Texas.
