

Leopoldo “Polin” Ramos, 92, of Clute, TX, peacefully passed away on March 11, 2026, surrounded by his immediate family. Leopoldo was born on January 19, 1934, in Escobares, Texas, to the late Jose Santana Ramos and Juliana Ramos Munoz.
Leopoldo, also known as “Leo”, was truly an extraordinary man. His strong work ethic and devotion to family inspired everyone around him to always strive for their best. He was known for his famous saying, “Always do your best.” His character was defined by an incredible spirit and determination. He faced every challenge with steadfast perseverance, earning the respect and admiration of his family, friends, and the community of Clute.
Leo worked for the Brazosport Independent School District as a custodian and later for the Street Department for the City of Clute until his retirement in 1999.
Leo was preceded in death by his parents, Jose Santana Ramos and Juliana Ramos Munoz; his beloved wife, Maria Inez Lopez Ramos; his brothers, Leonel Ramos and Santana Ramos; his sister, Leocadia Ramos Pena; and his grandson, Leopoldo Alejo Ramos.
Leo leaves behind a legacy of love and deep devotion. He is survived by his five children: Delia Ramos Vergara Ramirez, Lydia Ramos, Martin Ramos, Belinda Ramos Barfield, and Minerva Ramos (Lisa Hooke).
He is also survived by ten grandchildren: Michael Dewayne Ramos, Miranda Ranell Ramos-Matthis, Michele Nicole Ramos-Lanehart, Athena Mia Vergara-Dykes, Brandi Bianca Vergara-Holmes, Ricardo Poncho Eliseo Vergara, Alexis Bianca Monique Ramirez, Oriana Ynez Reyes Ramirez, Polo Marcus Barfield, and Kristen Hooke-Ramos.
Leo is further survived by ten great-grandchildren: Jett Aiden Ramos, Juliette Azule Ramos, Jonathan Andrew Vergara-Dykes, Sophia Corin Vergara-Dykes, Savannah Grace Vergara-Dykes, Justin Kalib Holmes, Mason Deseo Holmes, Daxton Oran Lanehart, Declan Grey Lanehart, and Meilani Grace Lanehart.
He treasured the time he spent with family and friends, sharing laughter, stories, and countless “dad” jokes. Above all, he held his family dear, exemplifying integrity and resilience and always standing tall for those he loved. His warmth, love, and laughter will be profoundly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him. His memory will remain a quiet strength and guiding presence for generations to come.
Leo’s life was a testament to love, faith, and selflessness, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Visitation will be held on March 27, 2026, from 4:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Restwood Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 1038 W. Plantation Drive, Clute, Texas. A rosary will be conducted from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
A Celebration of Life honoring Leo will be held on March 28, 2026, at St. Jerome Catholic Church, 359 W. Marion Street, Clute, Texas 77531. The family will receive friends and family at 10:00 a.m., and the service will begin promptly at 10:30 a.m.
Pallbearers are grandsons: Michael Dewayne Ramos, Ricardo Poncho Eliseo Vergara, Polo Marcus Barfield, Jett Aiden Ramos, Jonathan Andrew Vergara-Dykes, and Jon Dykes.
Honorary pallbearers are granddaughters and great-grandson: Oriana Ynez Reyes Ramirez, Alexis Bianca Monique Ramirez, and Mason Deseo Holmes.
Leo’s family would like to extend special thanks to all the extended family and friends who came together and assisted in every way possible to help make our father’s life more comfortable and memorable during his final months.
A reception for family and friends will be held after the burial services at St Joseph Catholic Church, 219 County Road 762, Brazoria, Tx. 77422.
