Marcos Richard Berlanga

January 29,1974 – March 26,2022

Marcos Richard Berlanga, age 48, of Murphy, Texas, went to be with Jesus on Saturday, March 26, 2022, surrounded by his loved ones. Marcos, an identical twin, was the first born on January 29, 1974, in Freeport, Texas, to Manelik Berlanga Sr. and Rebecca Rangel Berlanga.

Marcos grew up and ran the streets of Clute, as well as the surrounding Brazoria County area. He attended T.W. Ogg Elementary, Clute Intermediate, Brazoswood High School and Brazosport College. In 1999, Marcos packed his bags and headed to the Dallas area where he attended Dallas Baptist University and studied Theology.

As Marcos enjoyed the new scenery, he decided to make his transition to Dallas permanent. For 23 years Marcos was gone from Brazoria County, 21 of those years he resided in Murphy, Texas, where friends became family. Marcos worked as a Telecommunication Engineer and Project Manager in the Telecommunication Industry.

Marcos was an amazing human being and anyone who knew him can and will vouch for that. Marcos touched so many lives with his intelligence, his laughter, his charisma, his style and not to mention his kind heart. Marcos was known for making peoples days brighter, turning those frowns upside down. He was an avid jokester, and he would tell jokes even if you didn’t think they were funny, HE DID and that is all that mattered. Marcos truly never met a stranger, after your first encounter with Marcos, shortly after you became family, and you felt the love he gave. You couldn’t blame it on anything but his smile, his smile was contagious, and his laugh made everyone laugh. Marcos had a love for music of all genres and boy did he love to dance, let the music start and soon as he started to feel the beat, his body started moving. Marcos was known to cut a rug. Did I also mention sing, yeah he sang to the tune too. Marcos enjoyed life to the fullest and spending time with his family and friends.

Marcos held many titles in his time with us, he was a son, a brother, a father, an uncle, a nephew, a cousin, a friend, and in Marcos words a “brutha”. He imprinted his famous smile on everyone and that will forever be a memory in everyone’s heart as he was truly one of a kind. Marcos’s generosity and love will never be forgotten. He is missed by so many already and although his absence stands outs big time we will use his memories to fill the void of his absence from this day forward.

Survivors are parents, Manelik Berlanga Sr. and Rebecca R. Berlanga; son, Malik; daughters; Mia and Maya Berlanga; brothers, Manelik “Monty” Berlanga Jr, Martin “Marty” Berlanga (Linda), and his twin brother, Miguel Berlanga (Jessica, “aka Marcos’s Road Dawg”); sister, Raquel Rangel. nephews, Manelik “Lil Monty- aka # 3” (Dawn), Phillip (Starlyn), Matthew, and Michael Berlanga; nieces, Michaela (Andrew Robbins), Myranda, Marissa (Zain Walker) and Madelyn Berlanga; (Uncles, and Aunts) Hector Berlanga Sr. (Elsa), Josephine Kouches, Santos Rangel Jr., Richard Rangel (Carol), Rachel Juarez (Joe), Helen Romero (Joe).

Marcos is preceded in death by his grandparents (maternal and paternal).

A Visitation for Marcos will be held Tuesday, April 5, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Restwood Funeral Home, 1038 W. Plantation Dr., Clute, Texas 77531. A Funeral mass will occur Wednesday, April 6, 2022 at 10:30 AM at St. Jerome's Catholic Church, 201 N Lazy Ln, Clute, Texas 77531.
