Martha Lou “Granny” Cherry, of Bay City, formerly of Houston, Texas was born Friday July 22, 1921 in Como, Texas to William Truitt and Robbie Dink Bussey McGarity and died Friday, July 29, 2011 in Angleton, Texas at the age of 90 years and 7 days. She is survived by her daughters, Bobbie Lou Welch of Brazoria, Lillie Mae Hunter of Bay City; 7 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 20 great great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Tuesday, August 2, 2011, at Restwood Funeral Home from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday, August 3, 2011 at the Restwood Funeral Home Chapel with John Price officiating. Burial will follow at the Houston National Cemetery, Houston, Texas. Family has requested that contribution in memory of Mrs. Cherry be made to the I.P.H. Hospice Care, Inc. – 135 Hospital Drive – Angleton, Texas 77515.
