Roberta was born to Minor and Inez Wilson on September 5th, 1947 in Melrose Park, IL.
Roberta married Patrick Henry de Leon in Brownsville, TX and gave birth to 4 children - Patrick, Aaron, David and Jonathan. She then later remarried to Ricky Dale Ideus in Goliad, Tx. on January 14, 1990
Roberta sought many careers in her lifetime. Starting as a disc jockey for her father's radio station in Brownsville, Tx. She later became a midwife which inevitably led to her interest in the medical field as an EMT. Sincerely captivated by the acts of saving people's lives, she continued on to become a fully licensed paramedic and served many years at several EMS services professionally rendering whatever aid she could offer to the public. All the while, Roberta simultaneously studied at the police academy where she eventually changed occupations to become a police officer. While in Law Enforcement, Roberta still worked part-time as a paramedic, eventually returning to full-time, maintaining her law enforcement license by acting as a reserve officer to nearby police stations. Even with her busy schedule, Roberta was also an exceptional author and managed to publish two books in her free time.
Later in life, along with her husband Ricky, they both used their paramedic licenses to work at various clinics all over the United States to where their services were needed. Despite Roberta having to spend the majority of her time away from home, she continued on this line of work until she finally retired soon after Ricky's passing, where she enjoyed her time at home with family for just a couple years prior to her own.
Roberta had a plethora of passions and subjects of interest during her lifetime. And she had a lasting, divine intelligence to pursue them. Science, biology and philosophy were prime topics of conversation in her vicinity, and she was just as eager to learn as she was to teach. Early in life she was an equestrian of sorts and spent some time riding and caring for horses. She even ranked at the top in numerous professional competitions and horse shows. She enjoyed writing poetry and had several poems published. She dabbled in photography, finding beauty and wonder in whatever she pointed her camera lens at. She played the guitar as well as the piano. She ardently took pleasure in riding her motorcycles and did so until the day of her passing.
Unlike others of her generation, Roberta was an embracer of technology. She always brought the newest gadget home with her. Whether it was a beta player, VCR, Tandy 1000 computer, or the first ever CD players. She loved and excelled at playing video games of all kinds, especially if she was able to play them with her sons. 3D artistry was one of the final hobbies she pursued and did so exceedingly well for someone born well before modern computer technology was at it's infancy. Roberta was exceptionally adaptable and was always fervently keen on keeping up with the times.
Above all, Roberta loved and cared for her children and grandchildren more than life itself. She did all she could manage to spend time with them and make their lives enjoyable. She showered her children and grandchildren with birthday and Christmas presents every year without regard to financial concerns. And shared an endless amount of wisdom she was more than glad to impart. She never once put herself before her children. It was readily apparent that her most important job in life was the unconditional benevolence of a caring and responsible mother above all else.
Roberta is proceeded in death by her parents - Inez and Minor Wilson, as well as her husband - Ricky Ideus.
Roberta is survived by her children - Patrick, Aaron, David and Jonathan, and her grandchildren - Trinity, Evangela, Phoenix and Lucian.
