

Ruby Taroni was born and raised in Guymon, Oklahoma and survived the Great Depression and the Dust Bowl. She married Tony Taroni from Texarkana, Texas in 1947 and lived in Gurdon, Arkansas, where her daughter, Toni and son, Tom were born. In 1961, they moved to Big Spring, Texas where Ruby owned Big Spring Employment Agency. In 2003, they moved to Newton, Texas, where they lived until relocating to Lake Jackson in 2006.
Ruby was a resident at Lake Jackson Manor Apartments in Lake Jackson, where she was also a member of the Bible Study group and the Red Hat Society. Ruby attended the Second Baptist Church in Lake Jackson.
Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, Tony Taroni. She is survived by her brother, Thomas O. Black of Tulsa, Oklahoma, daughter Toni Stark of Lake Jackson, her son Tom Taroni and daughter-in-law Virginia, also of Lake Jackson, grandchildren Bill Edwards and wife Alissa of Sarasota, Florida, Tami Moreno and husband Joe of Pearland, Tara Johnson and husband Gabe of Huntsville, Chelsa Leatherwood and husband Mike of Lake Jackson, Jason Taroni and wife Christy of Allen, Texas; and great grandchildren Cody McIntyre, Ashton Johnson, Diana Stark, Ashley and Nolan Taroni, Nikolai Leatherwood, Ayla and Mallory Edwards.
A memorial service will be held for Ruby at the Second Baptist Church on Garland Drive in Lake Jackson at 11AM on Saturday, March 8. Interment will be at the Elmhurst Cemetery in Guymon, Oklahoma. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Heart Association, the American Cancer Society, Gulf Coast Bird Observatory or the Wounded Warrior Project.
Ruby was a kind and loving person who always had a friendly smile and never complained. She will be greatly missed by her family and her many friends.
