Sarah Marie (Bono) Langston was called to Heaven on May 28, 2025. She was born November 4, 1939, in Clodine, TX, and grew up a farm girl, riding her beloved horse and helping with the daily chores. She graduated from Sugar Land High School and went on to earn both her undergraduate and master’s degrees from Sam Houston State University (SHSU), where she was a member of Alpha Chi Omega Sorority and met the love of her life, Ray Langston, a fellow SHSU student.
Sarah began her career as an English teacher, but her favorite role was serving as a guidance counselor at Brazoswood High School, where she was blessed with amazing coworkers and students.
Sarah loved spending time with friends and family and was a regular at Little League baseball and football games and golf tournaments while her boys were growing up. In later years, she continued cheering at more games, plus dance recitals, with her grandchildren. She loved supporting the Houston Rockets and Astros, playing Bunco with friends, and traveling with loved ones. She and Ray were members of the St. Michael’s Catholic Church community, where Sarah was active in the Catholic Daughters of the Americas volunteer organization.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 44 years, Ray Dixon Langston, and her son, Joseph (JoJo) Langston.
She is survived by her son, William, and his wife Jeannie; granddaughters, Katherine and Abigail Langston; grandson, Brady, and his wife Cheyenna; her brothers, Bennie Paul and Joseph Anthony Bono; sisters-in-law, Patricia and Brenda Bono; as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
A visitation will be held at Restwood Funeral Home in Clute on Sunday, June 1st, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary service beginning at 7:00 p.m.
A funeral Mass will be held at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Lake Jackson on Monday, June 2nd, at 11:00 am. Graveside services will follow immediately, with a reception afterward in the parish hall at St. Michael’s.
Her family would like to extend a special thanks to her caregivers—especially Priscilla Solis, Shauna Martin, Loretta Fields, and Marilyn Mayberry—who loved her like family. Thank you for your kindness and support.
She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue. Proverbs 31:25-26
And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to myself, so that where I am, there you may be also. John 14:3
