World War II Veteran and Youth Football Coach Al Johnson, 93, passed away December 10, 2012 in Titusville.
Al was born October 13, 1919, in Halfway, Oregon. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1937 and served as a Chief Machinist Mate during WWII, receiving several commendations. He also worked at Continental Ins. Co. for more than 30 years, retiring in 1978.
Al was predeceased by his first wife, Susanna Eberle and his second wife Jane July. He is survived by his sons: Robert, Donald, James and Thomas, along with several grand and great grandchildren.
Throughout his life, Al supported community athletics and coached youth football. He established teams in Massapequa, Seaford, and Bellmore, Long Island, NY. When he relocated to Titusville, FL in 1978, Al started the Brevard County Bears. Al married Jan Darden in 2003 and they have enjoyed time together with friends and family.
The viewing and chapel services for Al begin at 1 p.m. on Friday, December 14, followed by burial with military honors at Brevard Memorial Park and Funeral Home at 2:30 p.m. at 5475 N. US Highway 1 in Cocoa FL 32927.
