Caridad, affectionally known as Cary, is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Raul; and her children, Elina (son-in-law Ramon) and Raul (daughter-in-law Rachel); and her five grandchildren- Daniel, Alejandro, Andres, Ella and Nicolas. She also leaves behind a beautiful extended family of her brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, Cesar and Estervina Rodriquez.
Cary arrived from Cuba in 1969 and settled in Merritt Island shortly thereafter. She fell in love with Brevard because the palm trees and beaches reminded her of her homeland, Cuba. Cary enjoyed traveling with her family, attending her grandchildren’s sports games, cooking traditional Cuban dishes for her family, attending to her garden, adopting every stray animal she found, and a good sushi dinner!
Cary has been residing at Courtenay Springs Village with her husband after becoming ill in 2021. Our family is forever thankful and grateful for the love and care received by the staff at CSV these last few years.
Cary will forever be remembered in our hearts and we take comfort in knowing she is resting in peace. Until we see you again.
A visitation gathering will be held on Friday, September 1, 2023 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Wylie-Baxley Funeral Home, 1360 N Courtenay Pkwy, Merritt Island, FL 32953 with a funeral to begin at 12:00 pm. Respects may be paid to Carey at her final place of rest in Brevard Memorial Park.
