Charles Herman England was born on July 29, 1930, in Twin Branch, West Virginia, to Dock and Sara (Darby) England. From an early age, he learned the values of hard work, faith, and service, which guided him throughout his life.
He began his career as a firefighter in West Virginia in the 1950s, answering a calling that would shape not only his profession but also his character.
In 1960, Charles and his family moved to Cocoa, Florida, where he continued his career in the fire service. Through years of faithful service, dedication, and strong leadership, he later became a Lieutenant, then Fire Chief of Cocoa.
After a distinguished career, he retired in 1992, leaving behind a legacy of service, respect, and mentorship that will not be forgotten.
Our dad was a great man, living with integrity, humility, and kindness. He was a steady presence—someone others could depend on—and he led by example.
As a provider, he worked tirelessly for his family, always putting their needs above his own. Through his dedication, we knew security, strength, and unconditional love. He taught by example what it meant to work hard, persevere, and never give up.
Above all, he was a man of God. His faith was the foundation of his life, guiding his decisions and shaping the way he treated others—with compassion, forgiveness, and grace. He trusted God completely and lived out his faith daily.
Music held a special place in Charles’s heart, especially his favorite song, “Beulah Land” by Squire Parsons. Its message of faith, hope, and the promise of a heavenly home brought him peace. Today, we find comfort knowing he has reached that promised land he believed in so deeply.
Our dad had a deep and genuine love for first responders. He knew first hand the courage it takes to answer the call, the sacrifices made, the long hours, and the unbreakable brotherhood of the fire service. This experience stayed with him for life and fueled his unwavering respect for all who serve others.
He cherished his work family and the many friendships he built over the years. We are grateful to those who loved him, supported him, and stood by him as true friends. Your presence in his life meant more to him than words can express.
Charles is survived by his beloved wife, Jackie (LaBarbara) England; his children, Howard Wayne (Leslie Harlan) England, Connie England (Reynsol) Chiles, and Debra England Harr, all of Rockledge, Florida; Grandchildren - Jami, Megan, Jerrod, Marc. Great-Grandchildren and Nieces and Nephews, whom he loved very much.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dock and Sara England, and his siblings, Curtis, Virginia, Harold, and Maxine.
As we say goodbye, we do so with heavy hearts, but also with gratitude for a life well lived.
We will never forget you, and we will love you forever and for all eternity. One day, we will see you again—walking together on the streets of gold.
Rest in peace, Dad.
