Doug was born in Freeport, Long Island on January 1, 1965 to parents Ralph and Theresa Dawson. He moved with his family to Brevard County, Florida in 1971.
Doug was a man of Christian Faith. He attended Merritt Island High School, graduating in 1983. In his younger years, Doug participated in the Special Olympics. In 1995, he qualified and participated in swimming events at the Ninth Special Olympics World Summer Games hosted in New Haven, Connecticut. Doug also enjoyed bowling and bowled with members of the Special Gathering Ministry.
Doug is survived by his brothers, Mark, Matthew, David, Michael and Daniel Dawson; his sisters, Linda Fichera and Laura Cahan and many nephews and nieces.
Services will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, January 28, 2017 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Cocoa Florida.
