

Elizabeth “Libby” Julian was born on July 3, 1925. She went into the presence of Jesus on August 8, 2020. Libby was one of twelve children born to James and Janie Gillespie. On December 26, 1945, she married Stephen Julian in Tigerville, South Carolina. She graduated from Furman University in 1945 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in French. While pastoring a church in South Carolina, she and Ellis were blessed with 3 sons, Steve, Archie and John. When they were called to attend seminary, they went to Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, TX. While in Texas, they were blessed with a daughter, Miriam. After leaving seminary, they moved to Miami where they were blessed with another daughter, Carolyn. After retiring from the pastorate, they moved to Marathon, Florida in the Florida Keys where she assisted Ellis as the Director of Missions for the Florida Keys. After retiring again, they moved to Port St. John. In her retirement years she formed many friendships, made numerous quilts and afghan blankets, sang in the choir and played piano whenever asked.
Libby worked as a media specialist in the Miami-Dade School District. She served the churches in many ways, playing piano and organ, singing in the choir, teaching Sunday School and making floral arrangements. She loved to read, crochet, quilt, and in later years do jigsaw puzzles.
Libby is survived by Archie (Sue), John (Kristine) and Carolyn (Ren), 13 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 2 great, great grandchildren and 5 sisters. Predeceased by Ellis, Steve (Toni), and Miriam (Martin) Miller.
Friends and family will be received at First Baptist Church of Port St. John (3900 Fay Blvd, Port St. John, FL 32927) on Saturday, August 22, 2020 from 1-2 pm. A Celebration of Life Service will take place immediately after at 2 pm.
