There was always room for one (two…three!) more at Fay’s table- even when that seemed physically impossible. Once you entered into her family, at any level, you were a lifetime member. Born in Southgate, Middlesex, England, Fay was so proud of her people on both sides of the Atlantic.
Fay’s music, gardens and all flora, and beloved animals were her biggest joys after her humans.
As a young English girl, she was able to attend the Royal Academy of Arts, and her love of music thrived through her life, singing with her many precious choirs, even for Pope John Paul, and at Carnegie Hall in New York and countless other performances…. she and her handbell ringer friends also graced their talents all through Florida for decades. Fay was a busy woman with her music, and that’s how she liked it!
At 18, Fay had a wee flower shop in London (Flowers by Fay), but adventure soon called, and she immigrated to California. She has been picking up wildflowers, planting creative gardens, and scattering her thoughtfully made arrangements through North America and Europe since. She had the sweetest shade of “green thumb” this side of Heaven. Now in the presence of our Lord and Saviour, Fay is sure to be worshipping Him with her beautiful voice, and then probably peppering Him with colorful garden ideas…. And they will be perfect.
Fay Hammond’s Memorial Service will be Monday, June 28th, 11:00 am at Suntree United Methodist Church in Melbourne.
