Kenneth C Stanifer

Ken Stanifer – ROCKLEDGE – Went home to be with Jesus at the age of 93 on March 12, 2023, in Rockledge, Florida. Ken will be lovingly remembered by his dear sister Shirley Nordgren and her husband, Elliott. Cherished father to Dennis Stanifer and his wife, Michelle, and Jeff Stanifer and his wife, Nancy. Beloved Poppy to Sarah Stanifer, David Stanifer, Katrina Mourzine, Daniel Stanifer, Leah White, Jeffrey Stanifer, and Gabriela Stein. Ken had six great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his wife Avis, a son, Kenneth R. Stanifer, and three siblings: James Stanifer, Paul Stanifer, and Charles Stanifer.

Ken was born in Monroe, Michigan in 1929 and moved to Florida in 1957 to be a part of the NASA team that processed and launched vehicles in the Mercury, Gemini, Apollo, and Space Shuttle programs. Ken loved motorcycles and was an avid rider for over 70 years. He was the co-owner of Cocoa Cycle Center and was considered one of the best motorcycle mechanics in Brevard.

Ken’s passion was his church. He was a founding member of the Cocoa First Church of the Nazarene, which later became Crossbridge Church of the Nazarene, Ken lived his life devoted to Jesus, serving his church, and loving others. He served on the church board, sang in the church choir and men’s quartets, served on multiple building committees, led multiple building projects, and was considered the church handy man throughout his life. Ken’s love of Jesus and motorcycles led him to become an honorary member of the Spirit Riders and was lovingly known as “Pops” to all those who knew him. He was a true spiritual leader and was instrumental in leading many to the lord.

Family and friends will be received at Crossbridge Church (651 Barnes Blvd., Rockledge, FL 32955) on Sunday, April 2, 2023, from 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm. A Celebration of Life Service will take place directly afterwards at 3:30 p.m.
