Mother was the first one to introduce her children to God and His wonderful love for us through Jesus. She taught us to say our prayers. Taught us the blessings of giving. I remember being in the hospital over in England and there was a very sick child that had cancer there. She had brought me a bag full of plastic soldiers that I was thrilled to get. Somehow, I remember standing at this glass window with this cancer-stricken child on the other side and him being so happy and thanking me for giving him the soldiers. I was so happy that I could make him happy. I don’t exactly know how mother convinced me to give this cherished gift to him, but she did it. She was able to take care of all of her children, see that we were feed, clothed, brought to church, and had all we needed. How she could do that especially with only one car and sometimes no car is beyond me. She went to her grandchildren’s games and events whenever possible and loudly cheered them on. She was always giving whatever she could to her children. There was this Arab leader (played by Anthony Quinn) in the Lawrence of Arabia movie who they were trying to get to help fight the Turks, but he didn’t want to unless he was well paid. They asked him why he needed money if he was such a great leader and he said because he was a river to his people. Mother was a river to her children. Remember her frantically scratching lottery tickets to see what money she won? It wasn’t because she was looking to get rich but rather so she could have something more to give her loved ones. Jesus said “He is the resurrection and life, he who believes in Me shall live even if he dies.” Mother hasn’t died. She’s only moved on to a far better place awaiting for her loved ones to join her and her resurrected body. Love your Son, Paul
