Lynne Rae Cox, a devoted, loving wife, an amazing, giving Mother and a lovable, caring Nana passed away peacefully just a few hours shy of her 76th birthday on August 5, 2023, following a brief illness. Lynne will be truly missed by the legacy that she and her husband of 59 years created.
Lynne was born August 6, 1947, in Manistique, Michigan to Orville LaVigne (Father) and Lillian Stout (Mother) and later gained, John Stout (Stepfather) all three have preceded her in death. Lynne is survived by sisters: Sandra (Blaine) Williams & Audette (Ed) Olson, and brothers: Guy LaVigne, Gary LaVigne, & Garth (Letitia) LaVigne.
Lynne met the love of her life, Carl E. Cox, and were joined in marriage in 1963 celebrating 59 years of marriage. They resided in California for many of those years raising their two children, a son, Carl Brook Cox and a daughter, Shelly Henley. Lynne devoted the early years of their childhood to being a stay-at-home Mom, volunteering at the schools they attended. Her love for her children was as pure as they come, and her children adored her. Lynne and Carl raised their children to have a love for God and an awareness of the importance of a daily walk with the LORD. Lynne was blessed with a marriage that her children wanted to duplicate and gained an additional daughter (in law), Theresa Cox and son (in law), Duane Henley. Lynne was a gracious Mother-in-law, opening their home for dinners, which she loved to cook and bake and always willing to offer words of wisdom.
Carl & Lynne moved to Florida in 2015 to enjoy their retirement years living close to their son, Brook and his family.
Lynne had another blessed title of Nana and was gifted with 5 grandchildren. Her son, Brook & Theresa gave her a grandson, Christopher Cox and a granddaughter, Amanda (Kristna) Cox. Lynne was preceded in death by her grandson, Christopher Cox in 2020. Lynne’s daughter Shelly & Duane gave her 2 grandsons, Jeremy (Jenn) Henley and Matthew (Itzel) Henley and a granddaughter, Nikki (Jacob) Charles. Lynne’s legacy included 8 great grandchildren and a multitude of nieces, nephews, and great nieces & great nephews. Lynne’s title of Nana was even used by the additional family members that became a part of her extended family.
Lynne was a devoted Christian and her and Carl provided a Christian home while raising their children. Her favorite hobbies were reading the Word of God, sharing the Love Story of Jesus, cooking/baking, spending time with her husband & children and loving on her fur babies. She could often be found sitting quietly with Carl with their dogs lying beside her as they read their Daily Devotions. Over the years, Lynne was able to provide a loving home for several of her favorite breeds, Lhaso Apso & Shih Tzu. She spoiled them as much as she spoiled her grandchildren. Lynne was also able to share her love of Jesus through her kindness, unconditional love and sharing heart. She was always willing to give a scripture to encourage anyone in need of enlightenment.
Lynne was loved by everyone who knew her and was blessed with her beautiful spirit of love. She truly was a living testimony of GOD’s grace here on Earth. Lynne is and will continue to be tremendously missed…. until the trumpet is heard and we are together again!
