O'Dessa L Bryan

O'Dessa Bryan, age 92, passed away peacefully on June 20, 2012, at Courtenay Springs Nursing Home on Merritt Island, Florida. O'Dessa was born on March 1, 1920, in Glen Easton, West Virginia to Charles and Clara Carmichael (deceased). O'Dessa was married to Russell Reed until his death in 1960, O'Dessa later married Walt Bryan to whom she remained married for 50 and one-half years.

Walt and O'Dessa were owners and operators of the Dog Gone Grocery on Merritt Island from 1972 to 2003, when they retired. O'Dessa managed the front of the store and Walt was in charge of the meat department. Mom enjoyed gardening, crafts, sewing and collecting cookbooks.

O'Dessa is survived by her husband, Walter L. Bryan, Sr.; daughters, Patricia Reed Hughes (husband, Ken), Deborah Reed Lientz (husband, Nicholas); sons, Charles D. Reed (wife, Susan) and Walt Bryan, II (wife, Barbara); grandchildren, Rocky, Stacy, Chris, Michael, Walt Bryan, III (Tres) and Mariah; 4 great grandchildren, Justin, Jordan, Carlie and Jocelyn. She is also survived by a brother, Hubert Carmichael and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers, Arlie, Ralph, and Jack Carmichael and sister, Beulah Jones.

Visitation will be held Friday, June 29, 2012, from 6 - 8:00 p.m., at Brevard Memorial Funeral Home, 5475 N. U.S. 1, Cocoa, FL. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 30, 2012, at 1:00 p.m. followed by a private graveside service for family members only.
