Patricia J. Friend

Patricia J. Friend, 83, of Coldwater, passed away Monday, January 21, 2013 at the Community Health Center of Branch County. She was born December 31, 1929 in Coldwater to Jesse and Goldie (Stockwell) Craun. She married Bernard E. Friend on June 17, 1947 in Quincy. He survives.

Pat worked at the Branch Intermediate School District for approximately 15 years where she worked with adults with disabilities. She also was a Certified Assessor for Quincy, Allen and Kinderhook. Pat had a love of music and played the organ for area churches for many years. She belonged to the Merry Mixers Square Dance Club and was a 4-H leader for several years. Pat was a member of the Coldwater United Methodist Church. She was very active at her church serving on various boards, councils, and played the organ for years. She enjoyed gardening, and she was an excellent cook, homemaker, and seamstress.

She is survived by her husband; Bernard E. ‘Bernie’ Friend, her children; Bernard D. (Karen) Friend of Coldwater, Diane (Michael) Whelen of Traverse City, Darin (Carolyn) Friend of Columbus, OH, 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Ray Craun.

Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will take place at a later date.
