Rita Brown Cornett

Rita Brown Cornett, 71, of Tekonsha, passed away Sunday, March 23, 2014 at Oaklawn Hospital in Marshall. She was born July 21, 1942 in Hazard, KY to Charlie and Nannie (Dixon) Brown. She married Billy Farmer Cornett, he preceded her in death.

Rita is survived by two sons; Charlie (Tracy) Cornett of Coldwater, John David Cornett of Tekonsha, three brothers; Hershel Brown of Homer, Larry Brown of Albion, William “Bill” Brown of Hazard, KY, six sisters; Lillian Miller of Louisville, KY, Carol Brown of Coldwater, Linda Young of Tekonsha, Mallie Shore of Springhill, FL, Marilyn Wooton of Hazard, KY, Cindy Terry of Hazard, KY, two grandchildren, three great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Rita was preceded in death by her husband; Billy, a son, Billy Ray Cornett, her parents, 3 brothers; Kenneth, Edsel and John Brown, two sisters; Mable Weatherly and Bobbie Anderson.

She enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing and quilting.

Visitation will be Tuesday, March 25, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Putnam Funeral Home in Coldwater. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. with one hour of visitation prior to the service at the Putnam Funeral Home in Coldwater with Pastor John Torrey officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Tekonsha
