Fumilola Ibitoye was born on September 18, 1977, in London, England, to Michael and Iyabode Ibitoye. At the age of two, she traveled to the United States with her parents, where she would grow and flourish into the remarkable woman so many came to love. Affectionately known as Lola, she was the eldest of five girls and naturally carried herself with strength, care, and quiet leadership.
Lola attended Slaton Elementary School, Bunche Middle School, and Frederick Douglass High School. She continued her education at West Georgia College, where she further developed the determination and curiosity that defined her life’s path.
Lola had a love for traveling and was a passionate advocate for both human and animal rights. She was a light and a giving person whose kindness touched many lives. She loved nature and was an active runner, competing in 5K races. Lola’s spirit, compassion, and warmth will forever be remembered.
Preceding her in death are her grandparents, her beloved mother, Iyabode, and her sister, Kehinde.
Lola leaves to cherish her precious memories her father, Michael; her daughter, Maya; her sisters, Adeola, Folashade, and Taiwo; nieces, Jordan, Morgan, Londyn, and Journee; nephews, Dionte, Alexander, and Devin; and a host of friends who became family.
