

James was born on December 21, 1963. He served in the United States Marine Corps before dedicating 32 years of his life to serving his community as a firefighter and fire marshal with the College Park Fire Department and College Park Police Department, retiring after a long and honorable career.
He made his home in Lawrenceville, Georgia, where he was surrounded by his family.
James is survived by his mother, Imogene Steele; his siblings, David, Bruce, Paul, and Ruth; his sons, Brian Joshua, Austin Daniel, and Cole Jacob; his daughters-in-law, Anna and Frankie; his grandson, Kian; and his stepchildren Lauren and Tyler Harris.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ronald Bruce Steele.
James will be remembered not only for his strength and dedication to others, but also for the simple joys he embraced in life. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and golfing, and had a special fondness for his Camaro. Above all, he treasured the time he spent with his family.
His legacy of service and devotion will live on in all who knew and loved him.
Visitation will be held at Forest Lawn Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 5755 Mallory Road, College Park, GA 30349 on April 28, 2026, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, followed by the Funeral at the same location on April 28, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 1:31 pm.
