

Agatha “Aggie” Day Mullins, 91, passed away peacefully on Friday February 5, 2016, at her home in Bryan, Texas. A service celebrating her life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, February 8, at Memorial Funeral Chapel College Station with John Maurer officiating. Burial will follow at Rest-Ever Memorial Park. Visitation will be held Sunday, February 7, from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home in College Station.
Aggie was born January 7, 1925, in Roganville, Texas to Sam Day, Sr., and Leachie Hawthorne Day, the 7th of eight children. She grew up in Newton, Texas and graduated as salutatorian of the 1942 class of Newton High School. She married the love of her life, Bert Miles Mullins, on November 5, 1942 and enjoyed 62 years of marriage before his death in 2005.
Aggie and Bert lived in San Francisco for a number of years after Bert’s service as a tail gunner in the Army Air Forces during WWII. They moved back to Texas in 1954, settling in Bryan in 1959. For many years they operated Bert Mullins’ Sunnyland Restaurant where Aggie was famous for her cream pies. Faith was central to Aggie's life, and she was active in Central Baptist Church and The Bridge Ministries. Aggie was kind and caring to old and new friends alike. She spent her last years helping and caring for her friends at Carriage Inn in Bryan.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bert Mullins; three brothers, Sam Day Jr., Cecil Day, and Noner “Spike” Day; and four sisters, Cloie Woods, Doris Day, Eunice Andrues, and Mary Simmons.
She is survived by sons Bert D. Mullins and wife Wynneth of Greenville, Texas, and Brent Mullins and wife Leisha of College Station, daughter Lauri McCollum of Alexandria, Louisiana; grandchildren Bert Mullins, Jr., Emily Mullins and Matthew Mullins, Brandon McCollum and Jeff McCollum, and great-granddaughter Aubrey McCollum.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Hospice Brazos Valley for their loving care and support.
