Charles (Michael) Heath age 69 passed away on November 17, 2019. Mike was born in Clifton Texas to Charles Edwin Heath and Johnnie Hardison Heath on February 18, 1950. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Gary Heath and Kelly Heath.
Mike is survived by his wife Janet Wilkerson Heath, two daughters Roseanna Heath and Jennifer Lynn Heath, brother Preston Heath and wife Connie, grandchildren Christopher Marquez, Helena Marquez, and William Demaree, and uncle Jim Hardison, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He married Janet Wilkerson Heath on June 2, 1972 in Whitney Texas and their marriage was a strong and loving relationship of 47 years.
He attended school in Whitney Texas and graduated from Baylor University in 1972. After graduation he started a management training program with Piccadilly Cafeteria chain. Mike and Janet Heath moved to College Station where Mike accepted an assistant food buyers’ position for the Department of Food Services at Texas A&M University.
He retired with 30 years of service from Texas A&M University as Manager of Purchasing and Distribution for Texas A&M Food Service Department. In his position Mike was responsible for purchasing the food, warehousing and distributing approximately 250,000 pounds of food daily feeding 60,000 meals per day, as well as the operation of the central meat processing and vegetable preparation areas of the commissary.
Mike was known for his supportive relationship with the employees under his supervision and they formed a successful team. Mike was an advocate for his employees in obtaining training and safe working conditions. Mike believed in the Aggie code of honor and felt it was his responsibility to serve the students of Texas A&M University. He was awarded the President’s Meritorious Service Award. Mike was loyal and honest with his friends, employees and colleagues.
Mike was a patient and loving father to his two children providing them with loving support and surprising them with material things before they even knew they needed them. His grandchildren were the light of his world and you would find Mike leaving early in the morning to take them to school, and in the afternoon to pick them up from school and bring them home for a snack and playtime. Children loved Mike including the ones that attended Janet’s daycare.
The family wishes to thank all of the caregivers during his illness and for the prayers from his friends.
