

Visitation is scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 29, from 6-8 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Chapel in College Station.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 30, at Grace Bible Church Southwood Campus, 1901 Harvey Mitchell Parkway South, College Station, TX 77840, with Pastor Jason Wiesepape officiating. Interment will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Zion Hill Cemetery, located at Zion Hill Community just north of Weatherford, Texas.
Cynthia was born Sept. 9, 1949, to Pencie Henson and Alfred Franklin in Fort Worth, Texas. She grew up and attended school in Weatherford. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from West Texas State in Canyon, Texas. She moved to Mexia, Texas where she taught high school for 10 years, then moved to Waco and taught at University High School for five years before retiring.
She then moved to College Station in 2005 and began her career at being a full-time grandmother. Cynthia loved to read and especially loved to watch Madie play volleyball at A&M Consolidated High School. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and doing arts and crafts with Avery. She was a member of the Grace Bible Church Southwood Campus in College Station.
Cynthia was preceded in death by her mother, Pencie Franklin.
She is survived by her daughter, Amy Welch, of College Station; her son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Tammy Stevenson, of College Station; her father and step-mother, Alfred and Peggy Franklin, of Weatherford; four grandchildren, Morgan Strickland, Madison Welch, Avery Stevenson and Abbey Stevenson, and one great-grandson, Dylan Ray, all of College Station; one brother and sister-in-law, Clifford and Edith Franklin, of Lubbock; and numerous other family and friends.
