David will always be in my heart and mind. When he was Fire Fighting instructor at Texas A&M firing fighting school in College Station, Tx., I drove up early one morning from Houston to surprise David and some of my "ole" firefighting buddies from Lyondell Chemical plant, who were taking the hands-on weeklong training, which the fire school provided. David and I had both worked together in that Chemical plant for many years and both had attended the firefighting school several years in a row, before moving on to other pursuits in life. David was now teaching at A&M, and I had my own Real Estate Business. My intent was to surprise him and the guys at the early morning briefing, have a cup of coffee with him, and drive back to Houston. However, so much for the plans of mice and men. In his own personable and persuasive way, which was unique to David alone, he wouldn't let me leave. He insisted that I stay and watch one more training exercise, after another, and visit with him in between. Long story made short, I wound up staying all day and will never forget spending that time with David.  

14 June 2022.  I was thinking of my younger days and old neighborhood and recalled David Tyner, my classmate & friend down the street on Kayla Lane.  On a whim search, i found him here.  I am sorry i missed him for so long.  David was gentle, nice, and intelligent person (good grades from elementary through high school).  He was a good football player on the high school team, a lineman.  After high school graduation our paths didn't cross so we lost touch.  
I recall when the Astros had a 'straight A' program where we would get tickets for the games in summer.  David & i went together for a couple of games, his Dad & Mom drove us there.  David was a kind and caring person.  I still remember David's Dad was born in Appleby, Texas as he mentioned in the car....

The memories are still vivid. I know this was late as this whim to look for David did not occur until 3 years after his passing, but i wish to share and acknowledge with his family that David was a pleasure to know and a wonderful friend.

I worked with Mr. David, Tyner as we called him, at BP. I had just spoken just a couple months ago and still always making me laugh during our conversation. He will be greatly missed. My deepest condolences to all the family. 

Dave while working with you I never had to worry about getting information from you you. You were always willing to help. You were great to be around and were a great friend to me. You will be missed!

I have known David for many years. He went to Galena Park while  Gary Fruge , I and others went to Furr. I haven’t seen David in years but he has always been a friend.  We all started at ARCO about the same time, David and I went to BP eventually and David was one of the first guys I talked to when I moved back to Houston in 2010. You always remember your friends growing up even if you loose touch David you have always been a friend and you will always be in my heart. RIP my friend   And god bless Becky and your family. 

David and I became friends in elementary school.  In high school while in Jacketeers David was the football player I was assigned to support by wrapping lockers and baking for him.  David was always so appreciative.  At the end of the season David sent me a dozen roses(his Mom May have had something to do with that 😀).  We will miss him greatly.  God’s peace and comfort to his family.

You could have knocked me over with a feather when  I heard of Big Dave’s passing. I have a lot of great memories while working and fishing with David while he was at ARCO/Lyondell. With great simpthy from Sheree  and I. You will always be missed. We know you are in the arms of our Lord, looking down on us. 

continued . .  . . well the good times continued after you and Becky moved to College Station. There were so many memories made on Remington! From birthday parties to over the hill parties, and all kind of parties in between; there was always good times to be had! I almost killed myself trying to ride Becky’s unicycle on one occasion. Spending time with you Becky, Jillian, Wade, Brittni, Jacob and all of the grandchildren was an absolute blast! I recall on one occasion you and I were “sharing” the kiddie pool with the grandchildren and you got in a bit of a tight spot with Becky. I had nothing to do with it of course; well perhaps I might have coaxed you a bit! I still have a picture on my phone of you sitting in your timeout chair across the yard.  Just a couple of years ago I had Tilly all buckled in the back seat of my truck and ready for a trip back to Oklahoma. Wow, I love y’all!  Visiting at your New Braunfels house last summer was a treat.  What a beautiful place you had. Visiting with you, Becky, John Michael, and Glenda was awesome and brought back many memories.  The Bures kids were almost more than I could handle in the swimming pool. Tailgaiting at Texas A&M football games with you was an absolute hoot! You always had to be near the fire. I guess it’s a fireman kind of thing? I thought you were going to die of heat exhaustion in the parking lot at NRG Stadium for the AZ St game. Your young neighbor from New Braunfels helped to keep you hydrated though. I also remember the time you insisted on bringing steak and lobster for a tailgate in Lot 67/68. After much resistance from me, you won and it was AMAZING. You became a legend at the 12th Fan Tailgaters tailgate! I could go on and on (and probably have gone on longer than I should), but you have been an important part of my life for 50+ years. I love you David Tyner! I am going to miss you beyond belief, but the memory of our great times together will carry me on.  God bless you my friend!  Rest in peace!

Big Dave! What a shock; I have such a huge void in my heart!  You're one of the few guys that I have comfortably and proudly told I love you! I was recently thinking of the fun we were going to have when Laura and I finally move to Aggieland full time. Those great times will be just put on hold for later. 

Looking back on our life together, what great times! I consider it a blessing that you were such a big part of my life throughout the years! Starting out on Kayla Lane (Becky and I on the good end of course). Our little neighborhood was full of boys to play and fight with and woods behind it to help with our growing up. I still remember the time you were chasing Mark Riggs and he "juked and jived" you right into a tree! As fate would have it, you and Becky moved into a house 1 street over after getting married.  Little Jillian would stop by and visit my Mom and Dad on their way down to Nana and PawPaw's. Mom and Dad cherished those visits! I had the good fortune of working with you at ARCO Chemical/Lyondell Petrochemical in East Plant operations for several years. Who said you couldn't have fun at work?  They didn't know you! We completed a lot of great projects during our time working there, you working days and coordinating the projects.  Duck and goose hunting in Garwood, TX.  Man those were some good times! Heck, we even were able to harvest a lot of duck and geese along the way! You were a big part of Laura and my wedding almost 31 years ago.  I recently saw a picture of the two of us at the rehearsal dinner and wow "what were Becky and Laura thinking"? Great times together continued through your move to Dayton.  I seem to recall Becky wanting an oversized couch in a certain room.  We tried many ways and David said it'll just have to go somewhere else or out on the curb. Well, Becky got her way, after a few more tries we were able to get in into the room without damaging walls or furniture. Ha! Ha!

Just one of the little boys that lived across the street from us on Kayla. A nice nice family that was always there for us.  His Mother took care of us like her own if sick. If you looked outside there was David, Lee Troy, Danny, Paul, Timmy, Steve playing football or anything else they could get into. RIP David...much to young.

Big Dave, can't say thank you enough for all the hunting, fishing and all the times we shared together. I look back on them as my fondest and most treasured times. I remember celebrating my 21st birthday with you Dave and for those who were not there, you missed out on one of the best times ever with Dave! I know you are in Heaven "popping a top" with our Lord, hopefully you are at least sharing, even though it is probably warm, because that is the way you drink it! I will miss you tremendously, love, Glen "GooB"

Wow, the news of David's passing hit Donna and I like a ton of bricks. We spent a lot of time together, as coworkers and also with our families back in the early 90's. He will be truly missed . This is one of those things that I thought that I could do when I retired, go visit Dave and Becky. Life is way to short.

    I was in plant operations with Dave when he worked for Arco. Dave always had my back. Later, when we both had moved on from Arco/Lyondell, I learned that Dave had become an Industrial Firefighting instructor at Texas A & M in College Station. Since I had attended this school several times while I worked at Lyondell, and knew that my “ole” firefighting buddies from the plant were going to attend on a certain date, so I invited myself (without calling ahead) to meet these guys in the assembly room at 7am on their first day of training. I was expecting to stay an hour or so, say hi to everybody I knew, and drive back home. Dave would have none of that. He invited me to stay the whole day through and allowed me to observe every single fire training scenario that the guys had scheduled that day. It was an awesome day, topped off with Dave walking over between drills and making some sassy little comments to me as only Dave could do. I think it is safe to say that Dave is a fearless and natural born leader who has never been afraid to blaze a new trail whether anyone was following or not. I would also like to say that I don’t think this world has seen the last of Dave since he will definitely be among those who shall rule and reign with Christ. Blaze on Buddy, Blaze on!      

Really enjoyed the hunting and fishing trips we were able to spend together. David was always a joy to be around. He gave me some great advice which I am forever grateful. Funniest video I ever saw was David singing karaoke to George Straits song The Fireman. David is probably entertaining Jesus with his singing skills. Rest In Peace my friend, you will be missed.

David was a great person he always strived to do what was best. In elementary David always had my back as a left tackle. He never let me get hit. I always enjoyed David’s Company and he will be missed. Rest In Peace David

The Tyner family was like my second family growing up across the street from them on Kayla Lane.  A lot of football games in the front yard and John was always there to add support and Margaret to take care of you.  David was like a little feisty brother waiting to grow up and be a Yellow Jacket football player.

I only knew Dave for a short time,  but we all enjoyed his visits. He had an infectious personality with an entertaining sense of humor. We will miss you Big Dave. RIP
