Born near Cloud Chief, Oklahoma, Don grew up with older siblings, Elsie and Freddie Taylor. He graduated near the top of his class of 12 from Colony High School and went on to pursue a Bachelors Degree and later a Masters Degree at Southwestern State University in Weatherford, Oklahoma. After teaching high school science classes for several years, he moved on to enter Air Traffic Control School in Oklahoma City. There he met his great love, Dorothy Horn, and upon his graduation they married and moved to Houston, Texas, where he spent 23 years helping to keep Houston International Airport safe for planes and passengers.
In 1973, Don and Dorothy welcomed a son, Craig Allen, and he was joined by Casey Ryan in 1975. Don was a loving father, a master carpenter, avid mechanic, and enthusiastic fisherman. Both before and after his retirement in 1995 he traveled around the country and all over the world. Don was a devoted Christian and faithful member of the Church of Christ, which he joined at the age of 12 and supported in whatever capacity he could throughout his life.
He will be forever missed by his sons and daughters-in-law, Craig and wife Holly, and Casey and wife Shawna; granddaughters Ava, Olivia, Harper, and Ivey; as well as, his sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Stone and Patricia Nieto and brother-in-law, Arturo, with whom he and Dorothy shared many good times and adventures throughout the years.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.memorialfuneralchapel.com for the Taylor family.
