

Edwin W. Hein, 82, passed away Sunday, June 3, at his home with family by his side. Funeral Mass will be held Thursday June 7 at 11 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Private entombment will be held at Msgr. Gleissner Mausoleum. Visitation will be held Wednesday June 6 from 5 to 8 p.m. with a rosary service at 7 p.m. at Memorial Funeral Chapel in College Station. Edwin was born February 19, 1930 in Burleson County the son of Emil T. and Rosie E. (Drahem) Hein. He worked and retired after many years of service from Texas A&M University and the City of College Station. He and Nettie enjoyed dancing, traveling the back roads of Texas and going to church festivals. Edwin was a charter member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus #1834 where he served as Grand Knight for six years. Edwin is preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, L.D. Hein.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Nettie Hein; children, Michael Hein and wife Alice, Cheryl Wyatt and husband Bob, Cathy Smock and husband Mark, and Tim Hein; grandchildren, Chris Wyatt, Chad Wyatt, Courtney (Wyatt) Barrett and husband John, Colby Wyatt and wife Jenn, Zachary Smock and fiancé Crystal Pfister, Matthew Smock, and Jordan Hein; step-grandson, Joshua O'Neal; great-grandchildren, Maggie, Alexis and Patrick Barrett. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice Brazos Valley, 502 West 26th Street, Bryan, Texas 77803 or a charity of choice.
