

Gladys B. Patrick, 98, passed away Sunday, September 11, 2011 at Lampstand Health and Rehab of Bryan where she resided for 4 years. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday September 13, at Memorial Funeral Chapel in College Station. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday September 14, at the funeral home. Officiating will be Reverend Roy Dillard. Interment will follow the service at College Station City Cemetery.
Gladys was born in Brazos County on March 13, 1913 the daughter of Theodore H. and Johana Stasny Krenek.
Gladys grew up in the College Station area attending A&M Consolidated High School and was proud to have been A&M Consolidated’s first cheerleader. After high school Gladys moved to California and attend Paramont Beauty School receiving her beautician’s certificate.
It was her love of dancing that caught the eye of Richard L. Patrick, Class of 40’. They were married February 14, 1942. While Richard was at war, Gladys worked in the commissary at Bryan Field and J.C. Penny. Gladys was a house wife with a love for cooking, traveling, collecting cookbooks, dancing and was always the go to person for family history and stories.
Gladys and Richard were contributors to the Endowed Opportunity Awards Scholarships at Texas A&M University, Sul Ross Scholarships, Permanently Endowed 12th Man Scholarship Program and the President’s Endowed Scholars Program.
Gladys was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Richard L. Patrick in 2001, parents Theodore and Johana Krenek, brothers; Hugo H. Krenek & his wife Alice of College Station, Kenneth C. Krenek & his wife Mary Lou of Corpus Christi, brother-in-law Leldon C. Thompson of College Station, sister-in-law Patricia Grant of Austin and nephew-in-law, Dennis Lane of Houston.
Survivors include a sister Lillian Thompson of Longwood, FL; nieces, Linda Krenek of Cedar Creek Lake, Beverly Lane of Houston, Beckie Krenek of Houston, Cathy Carroll & husband Randell of Longwood, FL, Lisa Hedrick and husband Kenneth; nephews David Krenek and wife Betty of Spring Branch, Timothy Krenek and wife Debbie of Houston, John Anderson and wife Linda of Austin, Robin Krenek of Houston, Jeffrey Krenek of Portland, OR, and Steve Anderson of Austin, as well as numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews.
