

Mary Lee Bradley, 90, of College Station, passed away February 9, 2016 at College Station Medical Center. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, Thursday, February 11th at Memorial Funeral Chapel in College Station. A funeral service is scheduled for 10:00 AM, Friday, February 12th at Memorial Funeral Chapel in College Station. Interment will follow at the College Station Cemetery.
Mrs. Bradley was born October 24, 1925 in Malden, Missouri, the daughter of Homer Claude and Pansy Lee Bridgeforth Burris. The family moved to Pine Bluff, Arkansas where Mary was raised and attended school. She graduated from Pine Bluff High School in 1943 and entered Arkansas State Teachers College, where she earned a BA in Home Economics. She married John W. Bradley in 1947. After moving to Texas, she continued her graduate studies at Texas A&M and Baylor Universities, earning her certification in Special Education. Bryan I.S.D. named her Teacher of the Year in 1983. Mrs. Bradley retired after teaching in Arkansas and Texas for a total of 28 years.
Mrs. Bradley was a member of the Neighborly Class at First United Methodist Church in Bryan and a Crestview Volunteer. She was an avid bridge player and was a member of various Bridge Clubs. She and her husband John loved to travel and had taken trips throughout the United States and Europe. She loved to cook and was a gardener, farmer and rancher. Her greatest joy was her role as “Meme” to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mary and John Bradley, Sr. celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary a few months before his death in 1997. She was also preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Robert H. Burris and Homer Claude “Pete” Burris; and a sister, Myra June Vinson.
Survivors include her two sons, John W. Bradley, Jr., Raymond Bradley & his wife, Mandy; two sisters, Jane Welch, and Ann Waterhouse; three grandchildren, Rebecca McGarr & her husband, Matthew, Robert W. Bradley & his wife Jana, and Charles Bradley; four great grandchildren, Mark McGarr, Lance McGarr, Cale Bradley, and Venna Bradley.
The family would like to send their heartfelt thanks to the staff at College Station Medical Center. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the First United Methodist Church of Bryan and/or The Neighborly Class at First United Methodist Church of Bryan.
