Russell "Rusty" Martin

Russell Martin, 92, of College Station passed away Tuesday, July 22, 2014. Russell was a "depression kid” His word was his bond. He was of sterling character and morally pure. He was highly respected in all areas of his life. His love of nature and all God's creation was clearly felt and seen. He was a faithful Steward of all that God endowed him with. He loved the Lord, his family, his church and friends. Most important, he was a "Completed Jew”. Russell was Vice Pres. in Charge of Operations with Pioneer Industrial. The last 10 yrs of his profession he was consultant and inspections with Geo. P. Reintjes Co. His work was in the Houston Ship Channel area with the refineries and paper mills. He worked tirelessly with the Boy Scouts of America. It was a labor of love. He is the oldest registered Boy Scout in the Sam Houston Area Council, unbroken registration for 81 years. He is an Eagle Scout, 3 palms, Silver Beaver and Order of the Arrow. His two sons are Eagle Scouts. He loved wearing his uniform on Scout Sunday and Eagle Scout Courts of Honor. He loved his church, served in many segments of its structure. Being a deacon was an honor, he worked at fulfilling that role. Having moved to College Station 13 years ago, his activities have been curtailed in Central. June 16, 1944 Russell and Wanda Little married. This past June they celebrated 70 wonderful years. He told people it was a marriage made in heaven. He is survived by his wife Wanda Martin, two sons, the oldest, Robert, precedes him in death; Rev. Keith Martin, wife Karen. Grandchildren, Kelby Martin and wife Colleen, Eric Martin, Joy Martin and husband L.W English. Kyle Martin and wife Amy. Five great-grandchildren, Russell Martin, Nick Cloer, Ethan Cloer, Bennett English and Drew Martin. Sincere thanks and gratitude to Scott & White Hospital doctors and personnel.
