Mrs. Sharon Lynn Carter, age 76, of College Station, Texas, joined the love of her life on Thursday, October 27, 2022. She is fiercely missed, but is finally at peace in her Heavenly home joining Lynn, whom she missed terribly. Lynn and Sharon loved each other for more than 32 years and passed on their love to a blended family of his and her kids, before anyone knew what that meant.
Whether she was fussing, sticking her tongue out, flipping you the finger, pinching your butt, or hugging your neck, you knew that Granny loved you. She was the ultimate hostess, cooking huge country breakfasts, big pots of beans, or her famous enchiladas for the hordes of family get-togethers; and she always had a glass of iced tea or a soda cold for company. Granny loved to sneak off with you into town to Wally World, take you out to feed the fish in her pond, or kick back on the couch to watch HGTV or one of her crime shows. She enjoyed a good joke and often emailed them out to share. Granny was a no-nonsense matriarch of a large family who always knew they could come to her for guidance and help with a healthy dose of tough love to go with it.
Sharon retired from the Canton Walmart Super Center in 2012 after 20 years and cared for her beloved husband, Lynn, until his death in 2017. After his passing, she relocated to College Station where she loved her grandchildren and great-grands with a passion.
She was the daughter of the late Cecil and Georgia Sanders. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lynn Carter; her son, Bobby Jo (BJ) Singletary; and her brother, Jack W. McCollister. She is survived by her children: Virginia Singletary (spouse of BJ); Vernon Lewis (Buddy) Singletary) and spouse, Jeanetta; Christina (CC) Blakeley and spouse, James; Teri Lynn Winkelmann; Michelle Vinson; and Carrie Hebert and spouse, Joshua. She also leaves behind her sister, Linda Jacobson and brother, Cedric L. McCollister, Jr., as well as 23 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and many cousins.
“Our death is not an end if we can live on in our children and the younger generation. For they are us; our bodies are only wilted leaves on the tree of life” – Albert Einstein
