His childhood years were spent in Duluth, Kenilworth, Illinois and Dallas, Texas. After the family moved to Dallas in 1935, Ted was able to indulge in his first hobby of raising horses and participating in local small scale rodeos. After college he worked for a commercial engineering company until returning to Texas A&M in 1954 where he taught Mechanical Engineering until retiring in 1985 with Professor Emeritus honor.
Ted was an avid sailor. He loved sailing, his second hobby, and participated in the 1992 five hundred year re-enactment of Columbus' famous 1492 crossing of the Atlantic Ocean by sailing from Florida to Spain. He served two terms as Commador of the Brazos Sailing Club where he taught “novice” sailors how to sail on his boat “Sue Mack”. He had many sailing adventures with his sailing buddies. His family and friends loved hearing his tales and listening to him sing “Sweet Betsy from Pike”. Ted always had a project he was working on and he lived life to its fullest. He will be deeply missed by all who loved and knew him.
