Andy enjoyed a long career of helping people, improving lives and making this world a safer place as a Human Factors and Ergonomic Engineer. Working at Chrysler, Boeing, Texas Instruments, Quest Medical and General Dynamics he was a pioneer in his field. He finished his career as a freelance consultant designing product control panels, warning labels and as an expert witness. During his career he received 4 patents for his work on medical, mechanical, and electronic product designs. One of these was the control panel for the first electronic controlled intravenous unit.
Andy was an active member of numerous committees for the Human Factors Society, President of the local chapter, as well as being Chairman for several national conferences. Additionally, he authored many papers for publications in the engineering and human factors fields.
In his youth, Andy enjoyed mountain climbing, hiking and fishing in the Pacific Northwest. Upon settling in Texas he acquired waterfront property and enjoyed boating and skiing. His love of creating and nurturing was reflected in his time spent gardening and his interest in chemistry and mechanics were seen in the hours he spent tinkering with his backyard pool. Andy was often eager and excited to travel, for both work, visiting family and for recreation.
Andy was an active member of Emmanuel Presbyterian Church, being an Elder and enthusiastic member of the choir. He was instrumental in organizing the Men’s group dinners, and the annual Men’s retreat to Mo Ranch.
