

Austin Scott Bruce, of Bedford, Texas, passed away on October 24, 2018 in Bedford, Texas. He will always be remembered as a loving son, brother, friend, and colleague to all who knew and loved him. He was born on February 11, 1993 in Arlington, Texas to Kathie Bruce. He is survived by his mother, Kathie Bruce, his sister and brother-in-law, Kate and Ryan Feuge, his niece and nephew, Brooke and Cooper Feuge, his aunt and uncle, Ann and Mike Wendland, and his cousins, Keith, Brandy, and Avery Wendland and Kelly and Deb Wendland. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, George and Kay Bruce of Houston, Texas. Austin was a young man of many accomplishments. He attended high school at L.D. Bell High School in Hurst, Texas where he was awarded an International Baccalaureate Diploma in 2011, was a National Merit Commended Scholar, participated in the award-winning marching band as a baritone saxophone player, was an attorney for HEB Teen Court, and was a member of the Junior World Affairs Council. He attended the United States Military Academy at West Point where he received the awards of USMA Distinguished Cadet, USMA Dean’s List member, and the National Defense Medal. He graduated with Honors with a B.A. in History with a specialization in European and East Asian history from the University of Texas at Austin in 2014. After graduation, he attended Alderleaf Wilderness College in Washington. Austin loved music, documentaries, history, geography the natural world, travel, snowboarding, and his dogs, Leo and Scout. His favorite trip was a two-week long safari in Africa with his mother, but he also travelled with his family to Washington D.C., Colorado, Yosemite, Yellowstone, British Columbia, Costa Rica, St. Thomas, England, and France. He had many friends from his high school and college years and liked nothing better than spending time with them. His Memorial Service will be held at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home Chapel in Colleyville on December 1, 2018 at 10 AM with a reception there to follow.
