Barbara Ruth McGovern

A visitation was held on Sunday, June 26, 2016 from 2p.m. to 4p.m. at Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home, in Colleyville, Texas.

Barbara was born in Buford, Illinois to parents, John and Ruth Fletcher. She was a dedicated employee of the United States Department of Defense for many years. She retired as a Supervisor for the inspector General’s office. Barbara, had a “green thumb” and always enjoyed her time gardening and enjoying the outdoors. Her pride and joy were her children and grandchildren. Beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, she will be dearly missed by those who were blessed to have shared life memories with her.

Left to cherish Barbara’s memory are her daughter, Kim Root and husband Wes, of Naperville, Illinois; Son, Michael McGovern and wife, Lisa, of Southlake, Texas; Son, John McGovern and wife, Phyllis, of Lake Dallas, Texas; Grandchildren, Tiffany Lohmar and husband, Jeremy Wolf, Dixie Lohmar and fiancé, Eric Scholl, Taylor Lummus and husband Cody, Alyssa McGovern, John Paul McGovern, and Kristina Gonzalez and husband, Blas; great-grandchildren, Izabelle, Jaxon, Leighton, Noah and Emma; Sisters, Becky Criscione and husband, Richard, of Florida, JoAnn Slifer, of Florida, and Gloria J. Ellis of California; numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
